Making Gold in World of Warcraft 101

Making gold in World of Warcraft is almost too easy in Wrath of the Lich King.  With 25 daily quests giving up to twenty gold each you can rack up almost 500g in no time.  Tedious, mind numbing daily quests have served to line the pockets of many a player in WoW, but it's by far not the best way.  The best way to make gold involves nearly no farming, nearly no daily quests, and can be done by any character at any level.

In WoW there is one central repository of wealth, accessible at any faction capital, and used by nearly every player in the game.  The Auction House in Wrath of the Lich King is filled with tons of gold making opporunities, you just have to know where to look.  In order to make the most gold possible in WoW you will need a few basic addons.  Addons are programs that are developed by other players of the game, installed to a specific game folder.  These tools change the way various portions of the game work, and can modify almost anything about the aesthetics and operations of the game.

Auctioneer is one of my longest used, most favorite and best supported addons.  It replaces the default Blizzard Auction House UI with a custom version which shows a larger amount of information.  Download Auctioneer from Curse.com and you'll see many more opportunities on the AH and in your bags.  Who knows, you may have an item that you never knew sold for thousands of gold.

Quick Auctions 3 is similar to Auctioneer, and works in conjunction with it.  It's a more advanced addon but it can be easily learned in just a few short minutes.  Its primary use is to create "groups" of items that you frequently sell.  These "groups" can be managed in a number of ways including undercutting your competition, ensuring you never sell below profit, and even mailing certain items to another character to be crafted into an item worth even more gold.

Characters who have well developed crafting professions will find the addon Skillet incredibly handy as well.  Skillet completely changes your profession interface, allowing you to see more recipes at once.  Additionally Skillet will allow you to queue up multiple items to craft, and will even automatically queue up items that you might need to craft in order to craft another item.

In addition to the addons above I recommend getting Lil' Sparky's Workshop.  It requires Auctioneer and Skillet at the least to work, but if you have those two then Lil' Sparky's Workshop is a gold mine.  LSW adds a new column to your Skillet interface, showing you how much gold you can make just by buying materials off the AH and crafting an item.  You can quickly sort through all of your proffessions to find the most profitable recipe you know.
